Maureen Lipman is the latest in a long list of high profile actresses to star in the much-acclaimed Vagina Monologues, co-produced by Old Vic Productions. Now in its sixth year, this highly successful UK Tour continues to play to packed houses.

Old Vic Productions announces two of its boldest projects yet; Billy Elliot the Musical, and the creation of The Old Vic Theatre Company under the artistic directorship of Kevin Spacey.

The Old Vic Theatre Company launches its first season with the British Premiere of Cloaca, directed by Kevin Spacey.

June - Billy Elliot the Musical opens at the Victoria Palace Theatre in London to widespread critical acclaim, accumulating 14 industry awards in just ten months.

Kevin Spacey lands the Critic's Circle Award for Best Actor in a Shakespeare Production following his commanding portrayal of Richard II under Trevor Nunn's powerful direction.

May - Billy Elliot the Musical celebrates its first birthday at the Victoria Palace Theatre with a spectacular one-off performance directed by Stephen Daldry, with Elton John taking to the stage in a tutu to perform 'Happy Birthday'.

2007
The Old Vic Theatre Company's third Season begins with the 50th anniversary production of The Entertainer directed by Sean Holmes and starring Robert Lindsay. This is followed by Gaslight starring Rosamund Pike, All About My Mother starring Diana Rigg. Swimming With Sharks plays for 15 weeks at the Vaudeville theatre, starring Christian Slater. Billy Elliot opens in Sydney, Australia to rave reviews.

2008
Speed the Plow starring Kevin Spacey and Jeff Goldblum plays to sold out houses at the Old Vic in January. Peter Hall's production of Pygmalion comes to the Old Vic for the Spring / Summer.
